Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy aims to restore function and movement, and is primarily based around movement and exercise. There is considerable scientific evidence for the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions in treating pain and restoring function, which is why, for example, exercises, self-management advice and manual therapy as part of the treatment package are recommended by NICE (National Institute for Clinic Excellence) for treatment of low back pain, sciatica and osteoarthritis.

Physiotherapy treatments offered at the clinic include for example, the following:

Gentle Manual Therapy. This involves hands-on treatment that may be used in conjunction with certain movements to help relieve pain and regain movement.

Electrical Therapy, e.g. Ultrasound. This involves pulses of ultrasound to reduce pain and inflammation and to enhance healing.

Exercises. These would be tailored to your condition and would be used to increase strength and mobility as required for your long term health.

Gait assessment and advice. This is to identify and correct problems with walking gait that can be a cause of pain.

Posture assessment and advice. This is to identify and correct problems with posture that can be a cause of pain.

Functional activity assessment and advice. This is to identify and correct problems with your everyday activities that can be a cause of pain.

"I found Hua a very sensitive and intuitive professional practitioner. It was the best treatment for my back that I have had over the last 20 years. Hua also advised me how to continue to care for my own back with exercises that have helped enormously. I am so glad she is here in Lavenham." Lesley Morrison, Sudbury.
